The context:
The primary goal of teaching is to share knowledge and skills whereas learning involves applying the knowledge and skills acquired.
Sounds simple but as we all know, it is far more complex.
Teaching & learning are inextricably linked. Teachers plan and deliver the curriculum; assess the attainment and progress of students; report students’ achievements to the relevant stakeholders all while providing a safe supportive learning environment free of distruption, harrassment and bullying. These are the intersecting complexities at the heart of teaching and learning in the classroom. A favourite quote:
“I wish with all my heart that every child could be so imbued with a sense of the adventure of life that each change, each readjustment, each surprise — good or bad — that came along would be welcomed as part of the whole enthralling experience.”
— Eleanor Roosevelt.
